Coding with 1st Grade

First Grade Fun

Coding is a breeze for 1st grade!

I always love it when my students are learning something in a fun way.
Students guide Awbie through a path filled with delicious strawberries using different tiles to design a specific algorithm.
This helps students to learn logic and  problem solving skills.

You want me to do what? Robotics? Coding?

At first this Robotics and Coding thing scared me- I know nothing about it! Once the students and I started diving into the lessons- I have fell in love with it. What a wonderful way to teach team work, building and problem solving skills! Just a little disappointed at how small the robotics are, but the kids truly light up once their team completes the task.
Next project- miniature hand powered windmill!

2018 Olympics lesson ideas!

So if you didn't watch the opening ceremonies this year, you missed one amazing show! I am such a tech nerd and loved the Drone Flight show so much I had to share it with my 4th grade students this week. Click the link to see what I am talking about-

I watched this all week and every single day it gave my chills to watch all 1,200 drones take flight. This was a perfect way to show team work and coding. I love the app where you can be apart of the different sports and keep up with the medal count. Check it out...
VR goggles are not required- you can view the different sports with panoramic view.

Go U-S-A!!! I love the Olympics!
