Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss

Last week I teamed up with our librarian, Mrs. B, to have the students come up with a conclusion for the
"Butter Battle Book." We had a lot of great creations in the app, Puppet Pals. Here is one that we voted as one of the best. Students only had about 10 minutes to write their ending and then play it out in Puppet Pals. I think Dr. Seuss would love this creation from our third graders, Jasmine and Joey.

Drawing and Graphics Unit
Students used KidPix in our lesson today. They used the shape, line, text box and paint bucket tool to create a train. All of them did a awesome job! Here are just a few samples from my 2nd graders.

Lots of fun at TCEA 2014

I had a blast and learned a lot. I was super excited that there was a session called "I Mustache You To Amp Up Your iPad!" Speakers: Bethany Brant and Tiffany McGuire from Lewisville ISD did an excellent job!

Congrats to my little Pre-K friend who will be one "Mustachtic!" big brother. I was very impressed with my Pre-K student who took the picture for me also!

Elementary Students Enjoy a Taste of Japan

Students are learning the differences in Japan and American holidays. Before they enter the room 2nd through 5th graders remove their shoes. Students sit on the floor as our wonderful librarian, Mrs. B, reads the book "The Moon Shines Down" by Margaret Wise Brown and Illustrated by Linda Bleck. Our 4th and 5th Grade students have the honor of tasting some soba noodles while using chopsticks. A special interview of my mom, Miyoko Hammonds, is played for our 2nd through 5th grade students and they are taught a few common Japanese words.
Here are a few sites that were used during our lessons-
